But Unfezants weren’t the only possible threat to a berry garden; any Pokemon could take one as a chance for some free food, so it was important he had a Pokemon watching over it at all times. There were even times when one would come by when he was visiting.

That dingling noise was proof that this was one of those times. While Hideo didn’t know it was a Chimecho, he knew it was most likely that it came here to eat.

“Mind dealing with it, Smith?” Hideo asked, pouring some more water over his sole Salac plant. His small Pokemon nodded, firing a Dragon Pulse at the incoming Pokemon. It was a direct hit, the Chimecho scared by the sudden attack and fleeing from the area.

A bit rough, but Hideo knew he had to be extra careful here; he couldn’t let any Pokemon think his garden was an easy meal, or he’d find more doing the same. How would he ever grow anything if it kept being eaten?

But just as he heard the dingling fade away, Hideo could hear flapping wings approach. Guess it might have heard the attack go off and came in to investigate. Even if it weren’t here for any berries, they had to make sure it didn’t get a desire to come back later.

“Smith? Mind asking them to leave?”

A small green ball of energy grew in the Appletun’s open mouth, firing forth at the voyeur. It was a direct hit, though it didn’t do too much. Which was why several more came flying at the flyer, until it was finally discouraged and flew off.

“Kinda sounded like a Sigilyph for a second,” Hideo wondered aloud. He had one of his own, and this garden wasn’t too far from his camp. But he knew he told his Pokemon not to come here on their own, so that couldn’t have been his own Sigilyph.

Birds, Hideo was used to dealing with birds in his garden. Flying bells, his Appletun was more than ready to fend off. And the garden had been protected from more than that, from Deino to Minior. But as he heard something swooshing through the air, he realized that there was a type of threat he'd yet to deal with in his garden.

A fish.

He recognized the sound of a flying fish, kind of like what his Arrokuda made as it moved. It was subtle, but hard to mistake for flapping wings.

But that was as much information as he could glean from its approach. And as far as he knew, it was here to try and eat some berries. Not something he was keen on letting happen.

"Take'em down, Smith," Hideo ordered, his Appletun spewing out a green liquid, the Apple Acid striking the intruder.

Hideo could hear something hit the ground. He walked over to investigate, noticing quickly that it felt very flesh-like and scaley. "Huh. Went down in a single hit."

Hideo stood there for a moment, deliberating on what to do. With a shrug, he took out a spare Pokeball, tossing it at the KO'd Pokemon.
